PIGMENT GALLERY

Collecting, refining, developing wild pigment into watercolor paint or inks has been a new endeavor for me. In 2002, I visited the ORCHE Quarry near Roussillon, France and fell in love with the natural colors and now 20 years later I have time to explore. Here in Colorado, we have the beautiful Red Rocks Park and the Painted Mines Park, full of earth color.

There are so many artists, scientists and makers that have developed and defined this field. It is cheers and a very hardy thank you to them for sharing, studying and collecting. Respecting and honoring nature with all it's gifts is very rewarding.

Wild pigments are found all around, I am focused on both plant and mineral pigments. Soft rocks, soils, flowers, fruit/veg, nuts, seeds and shell! Foraging, processing, mixing, wetting, drying, storing, preserving, labeling, and more are involved. Each paint or ink is as beautiful and unique as the next! Such a joyful experience!
